Advanced Wine & Cheese Class: Italian Adventure with Philly Cheese School

You're invited on an immersive plunge into the heart of Italy's delicious treasures, where we embark on a journey beyond the familiar and well-trodden path. We'll venture into the less-traveled wine routes, where indigenous grape varieties shine, often overlooked in the shadows of their more famous counterparts. From the sun-drenched vineyards of Sicily to the Alpine heights of Piedmont, Italy's diverse terroirs offer a captivating mosaic of flavors, aromas, and textures that are waiting to be explored.

But a wine experience in Italy wouldn't be complete without the perfect accompaniment – cheese. Italy is not only renowned for its wines but also for its exquisite cheese production. Our journey will also uncover lesser-known Italian cheeses that harmonize beautifully with these hidden gem wines, creating unforgettable pairings that showcase the rich culinary heritage of this enchanting country. So, join us in this exploration of Italy's lesser-known wines and cheeses, and let's savor the undiscovered treasures together.

Class location is in the Italian Market, address shared upon reservation confirmation.

Jura Duty: Advanced Wine & Cheese Class feat. Julia Birnbaum of Philly Cheese School

Do your civic duty and drink good wine!

.

It’s January folks, arguably the saddest month of the year, but slightly less sad because it’s…JURA DUTY TIME. That’s right, YOU’VE BEEN SERVED. What better way to zoom through the gloom then by enjoying some juicy poulsard, mouth-watering savagnin, and comté cheese? The wines of the Jura are extremely compelling and quite diverse. They make still, sparkling, oxidative, and dessert wines, all of which are quite allocated in the US and hard to find, especially in PA. This is a very special tasting because I’ll be joined by the Queen of Curds herself, Julia Birnbaum from @phillycheeseschool. Crazily enough, last summer Julia and I both took trips to the Jura region of France, just narrowly missing each other. We’ve been wanting to dive into this region with you for a while now and share some of our favorite wines, cheeses, and stories. So join us for this very special tasting. Recommended for those looking to go beyong the wine & cheese basics and dig a bit deeper.

Friendsgiving feat. Nana Wilmot

Nana Wilmot is one of our favorite people to collaborate with. She is a fiercely passionate storyteller both on and off the plate. We’re hosting her for a Friendsgiving feast that will make your head spin. She’s incorporating West African flavors into Thanksgiving classics in a way we’ve never seen before, and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re talking Suya fried turkey, Jollof rice, okra with egusi granola, and more!! Celebrate with us! Ticket includes Thanksgiving menu and complimentary beverages.

A little more about Nana:

“Nana Wilmot an Auntie, sister, daughter, friend, professional Chef and owner of Georgina’s Private Chef and Catering Co. and Creator of Love That I knead supper club.

Nana started cooking at the age 7 with her grandmother, Georgina, which later turned into her love cooking for others. After studying culinary arts and management at The Art Institute of Philadelphia in 2013, Nana went on to work for Wolfgang Puck catering and Chef Jose Garces restaurants to name a few. After moving to New York as opening crew for Garces’ new New York location in 2016, Nana worked at Le CouCou, a Steven Starr restaurant/Chef Daniel Rose collaboration.  She then moved on to Le Mercerie where she worked with Chef Marie Rose and picked up bartending at YN wine bar in NoLita. Following the success of these experiences, Nana was on her way to Paris to work at La Bourse et La Vie by Daniel Rose when Covid hit. Pushed to pivot, Nana relocated back home to the Cherry Hill/Philadelphia area where she has started the Love That I Knead Supper Club - an intimate, West African-focused dinner series that celebrates Black history and Food Ways across the diaspora. Through Love that I Knead, Nana continues to explore her identity on a plate using a fine dining lens and helping others who are also looking to “Find their way back.”
